Wordpress 2.0

For those of you who care, I’ve upgraded 11h.net/blog to Wordpress 2.0. The upgrade was a snap and took only a few minutes of my time on New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Reminder

Remember to spread the word that the time Dec 31 23:59:59 2005 will advance to Dec 31 23:59:60 2005 before the year rollover to Jan 01 00:00:00 2006 due to a leap-second. Luckily, the Linux ctime() function call allows for leap-seconds. Since I’m sure only Eric & I read this blog, I suspect it’ll only be him and I counting down the new year properly: 10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… 0… Happy New year! w00t!

No TV and No Beer Make Brian …

The only problem with being forced to mount your satellite dish on the roof due to Condo/multi-dwelling unit rules?

No Signal on Satellite!

No way to get to the dish to wipe the snow off the LNB. My neighbors own the upstairs patio, and I have a feeling they’d get suspicous of someone climing up their wall in the late evening to fix his dish. The vast majority of my channels are now de-watchable until the snow melts. The spot beam signals are still pretty strong (Transponder 18 is the Seattle locals). Too bad the simpsons aren’t on for another 20 minutes on FOX. I guess I’ll go post a blog entry while I wait! The funny thing is that I had Primestar/DirecTV growing up in Eastern Washington (near Colville) where we always had a LOT of snow thru the winters. Very rarely would we have an outage on the satellite. Only the worst of the bad thunderstorms would cause a temporary signal loss — but at that time we’d unplug the TV to keep it from getting fried from lightning strikes and power brownouts/blackouts/surges. Happy first snow day for Auburn!
